The average retail price of chicken eggs is stable, said the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP).
Through its statement, KPDNHEP informed that the current price for grade A is RM0.44, RM0.40 (grade B) and RM0.36 (grade C) last Monday.
According to him, the results of monitoring and analysis obtained from the producer and wholesaler level by the Notice of Verification of Goods Information (NPMB) revealed that the selling price of grade A chicken eggs is between RM0.37 to RM0.38 each.
“Grade B is sold at a price of RM0.34 to RM0.38 while around RM0.33 to RM0.37 for grade C chicken eggs with a profit margin between
RM0.01 to RM0.03 per seed, “he said.
KPDNHEP said the monitoring also found that some traders were still selling at a lower price than the cost price until July 2021.
He said the retail price of chicken eggs sold in a quantity of 30 pieces is more economical than those sold in a quantity of 10 pieces.
“Therefore, consumers are encouraged to make wise choices,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.
The ministry said it took note of press and social media reports on the retail price of chicken eggs which had increased in the market compared to the previous month.
“The report is in line with data released by the Veterinary Services Department (JPV),” he said.
KPDNHEP said the average retail price for standard clean chicken was also stable from Sunday to Monday at RM7.51 per kilogram.
“The ministry has been enforcing Ops Pasar (chicken eggs) and Ops Rantai (chicken feed) since Aug 2, in addition to price monitoring officers (PPH) conducting daily monitoring as an approach to ensure the movement of retail prices of chicken and chicken eggs does not put pressure on consumers. “he said.
According to the statement, the enforcement of Ops Pasar has focused on three main targets of chicken eggs.
“This includes inspections taking into account all chains including producers, breeders, wholesalers and retailers,” he said.
