Have you ever imagine about flying cars? Well, the futuristic science-fiction vehicles may soon be a reality and this will change the way we commute from a place to another.

Recently, Jetpack Aviation had announced a successful test drive of its brand new jet-driven motorcycle prototype, called ‘The Speeder’. It was also revealed that the futuristic flying motorcycle will be available to the public as soon as 2023!

According to Robb report, they have completed the first test flight with flying colours and the California company is planning to produce 2 consumer versions that can be bought and driven by everyday users.

The flying motorcycle is built with Jetpack Aviation’s unique own flight-control software programme to monitor and adjust the thrust. This task alone took them one year and a half to complete and refine it, which it allows the bike to function like a normal motorcycle in the air and automatically stabilises the vehicle mid-flight.

It was reported that ‘The Speeder’ is able to take off and land vertically from most surfaces and it can even be programmed to fly autonomously.

“We could have an ultralight version [which requires no pilot’s license] ready within two years and an experimental category version within six months after that,” Jetpack Aviation CEO David Mayman said.

“The ultralight version would be limited to 60 mph (FAA rules) and a flight time of 15 minutes. The experimental version would require a basic pilot’s license to fly,” he said.

“The speed of this version would be approximately 250 mph with a flight time of about 35 minutes.”

As of now, Komso had reported that ‘The Speeder’ will be available at $381,000 (≈ RM1.6 million) and the company had started taking pre-orders from interested buyers.
