News3 Police Officers charged for Drug Abuse

Yesterday (15 August), three out of six police officers who were detained while being high on drugs at a night club in Taman Sentosa, Johor Bahru on 6 August were being charged in the Magistrate’s Court.

According to Sinar Harian, Johor police chief, Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay confirmed the matter and said that the 3 police officers pleaded not guilty after being charged with drug abuse.

“All those being charged, aged 29, 31, and 32 respective, pleaded not guilty when charged in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday.”

“They will be charged under Section 15 (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which carries a maximum jail term of two years or a fine of RM5,000 or both if convicted.” Ayob Khan said at press conference conducted at the Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK) Johor.

Elaborating further, Ayob Khan said that there were 3 other public servants that they have yet to charge and investigations are still ongoing.

Previously on 8 August, it was reported that 6 police officers were among the 68 individuals detained at a night club in Taman Sentosa during the Movement Control Order (MCO) was implemented.

During the raid at 1.30 a.m., the police also seized various types of drugs worth RM151,765. In addition, the 6 officers were found having fun and drinking alcohol too.

The investigation found that they were on the drug and they admitted to taking drug supplies at the night club from an someone who is being known as ‘doctor’.
