On Wednesday (11 August), 4 individuals were caught by the police at a roadblock for travelling interstate in a private ambulance without a valid approval letter to do so.
According to Utusan, the 4 individuals were arrested at Kampung Tanjung Belenggu, Pahang at 6.15 p.m. when they were being stopped for checks at the road block.
The preliminary investigation by the police found that the 30 year-old suspect and her 70 year-old mother had brought along 2 children aged 10 months and 6 year-old to return to their home at Gemas, Negeri Sembilan.
The police also found that they had rented the ambulance for RM1,300 to pick them up at Taman Bahagia, Pahang.
Temerloh District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd. Azhar Mohd. Yusof said that they have detained the 2 passengers, the driver and his assistant to assist with the investigation.
“All of them were detained during an inspection conducted by the police at roadblock near Kampung Belenggu here where they failed to submit a letter of permission from the police.”
“The police would like to thank the public for providing information and cooperation to the police.” he said.
Mohd. Azhar added that the case will be investigated under Section 270 of the Penal Code and Section 22 (b) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988.
He said further investigation was still underway and the investigation paper would be submitted to the Deputy Public Prosecutor for further action.
