Penang Police asks Citizens to be prepared with MySejahtera Digital Certificate screenshot at Roadblocks

Following the announcement from Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on Sunday (8 August) to ease the restrictions for those fully vaccinated individuals, the Penang police had advised those who are travelling interdistrict to prepare a screenshot of their MySejahtera digital certificate for police personnel.

It is said that the MySejahtera screenshot will speed up checks at roadblocks in the state and reduce the traffic there too.

According to Astro Awani, Penang deputy police chief Datuk Fisol Salleh said that the screenshot on their phones must be shown to police at roadblocks if they wished to travel across district borders, which is allowed beginning today (10 August).

“This means that those who successfully complete two doses of COVID-19 vaccine and after a period of two weeks, are eligible for the flexibility provided such as interdistrict travel. However, interstate travel is still not allowed except for certain conditions.”

“To make things easier for our frontliners at roadblocks, those who have completed both shots are advised to prepare a screenshot on their mobile phones for inspection by the police.” he said.

He cited that the Ministry of Health (MOH) said that about 61.7% of Penang’s adult population have received their first dose of vaccine, while 27% had completed both doses.

Fisol then said that the guidelines issued on Sunday (8 August) clearly states that the conditions set for social sector, sports and recreational activities, and he advised the public to always comply with the standard operating procedure (SOP).

He added that those who are fully vaccinated can enjoy flexibility given such as dine-in at restaurants, but the restaurant or business owners should ensure that employees were fully vaccinated too, and that they have to display their digital certificate too.

“Business owners also need to ensure the premise is operating at 50% capacity and social distancing is to be practiced. In addition, the ventilation system in the premise should be good and they should ensure only customers who have received complete vaccines are in their premise.”

Meanwhile, he advised the public to comply with the SOPs in place to ensure that the objectives of the national recovery plan were being met.

“The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) Penang Contingent through the district police chiefs has been instructed to carry out monitoring on all premises to ensure that all SOPs are complied strictly with by everyone.” he said.
