Lotuss Stores (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Lotus’s Malaysia), formerly known as Tesco Malaysia, is expanding its contactless payment ecosystem with the adoption of ShopeePay.
Lotus’s Malaysia Customer Executive Director, Vivian Yap, said it was in response to the 25 per cent annual increase in cashless payments recorded among buyers.
See said the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic apart from the availability of facilities, security and support from the government had encouraged the acceptance of cashless payments in Malaysia.
“As reliance on e-wallets increases, we need to ensure that all existing payment method options are accessible to customers.
“With the growing popularity of ShopeePay as seen from the market reaction during the implementation of eBelia, we believe that this collaboration will benefit Lotus’s buyers as well as ShopeePay users.
“Customers will also enjoy cash back when paying for groceries using ShopeePay at any of our 62 branches nationwide, enabling them to enjoy even more savings,” she said in a statement.
Meanwhile, ShopeePay Malaysia Head, Alain Yee, said the increase in cashless payments at Lotus’s showed a positive acceptance of contactless payments in the country.
“The year-on-year increase for cashless payments at large retail chains such as Lotus’s indicates that there is an increase in awareness as well as usage for cashless transactions in Malaysia.
“Given Lotus’s value proposition as an e-commerce platform with broad market penetration across the country, we believe that we are in a unique position to synergize both the offline and online retail sectors,” she said.
To celebrate Lotus’s collaboration with ShopeePay, customers will get a cash back of RM4 through a minimum spend of RM40 in one transaction when paying for groceries with ShopeePay at any Lotus’s branch.
From now until September 29, 2021 and in conjunction with Shopee 8.8 Branded Sales, each buyer will receive a maximum of two cash backs during the duration of this campaign.
In addition, customers can also enjoy a cash back of RM3 with a minimum spend of RM15 when using ShopeePay at any Lotus’s branch from now until 31 December 2021.
However, each user will only get a cash back of RM3 once per day.
