Yesterday (31 July), a group of demonstrators had gathered at the Dataran Merdeka in Kuala Lumpur to attend the ‘Keluar dan #Lawan’ protest. However, the demonstrators did not managed to make it to Dataran Merdeka as the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) had sealed off the several roads heading into Dataran Merdeka and Jalan Tun Perak.
Following that, the crowd has dispersed peacefully following the instruction from PDRM ordering them to do so.
Responding to that, the Home Minister, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin urge the PDRM to conduct an investigation on individuals and political leaders who were involved in the ‘Keluar dan #Lawan’ protest yesterday (31 July).
According to Utusan, Hamzah said that the PDRM has identified the organisers of the protest and he labelled them as instigator who are trying to damage the country’s image.

He then urge the PDRM to take action against those participating the protest and they will make the announcement from time to time.
“I see that these are those who are angry when the government allows the factory to operate, but these individuals are also the ones who ordered and incited everyone to gather.”
“If studies being conducted, we will understand that these groups only aim to divide the situation and cause an uproar among the community.” he said in a press conference at the Selama District Police Headquarters (IPD).
Present at the press conference were the Inspector General of Police, Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani, Director General of the Malaysian Prisons Department, Datuk Nordin Muhamad and Secretary General of the Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN), Datuk Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz.
Meanwhile, Hamzah also explained that Malaysians should understand that Malaysia is currently in a panic state whereby the Covid-19 situation is worsening, especially when the Delta variant that started to spread in Malaysia.
“These people already know the danger of this variant to the community but at the same time they also invite the public to gather.”
“Are they double standards in complying with SOPs or are they immune from this variant.” he said.
The PDRM also said that the crowded that was present for the protest were being estimated to be around 400 to 450 people and all of them were dressed in black. At the scene, they chanted “Tolak Muhyiddin”, “Letak Jawatan” and “Bangkit Rakyat” as they make their way to Dataran Merdeka.
