In the Parliament sitting yesterday (27 July), the Health Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba had gave his assurance to the medical officers who participated in Monday’s #HartalDoktorKontrak strike will not face any disciplinary action that will affect their career.
“No action will be taken against them, even though they held a demonstration yesterday. They have the right to do so.” Adham Baba said.
The #HartalDoktorKontrak strike was held at 11 a.m. on Monday (26 July) and they are demanding for the contract system to be abolished due to its unfairness in compensation and workload.

Despite the Health Minister’s assurance, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) officers had went into the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) last midnight (28 July) to carry on their investigations on the junior doctors who attended the strike.
According to MalaysiaKini, lawyer Asheeq Ali, who represented the group of doctors, said that the police officers were taking full statements about the whole event and interviewing staff individually.
He added that up to 12 doctors were being interrogated by the police for over 4 hours, from 11.30 p.m. until 3.45 a.m.

Siasatan masih sedang berjalan. Saya sedang menunggu untuk berjumpa dengan IO.
Siasatan awal pagi begini langsung tidak masuk akal! pic.twitter.com/Xgpe66Wona
Responding to the matter, Asheeq Ali said that they had not expected investigations to be opened against them given the fact that doctors at MAEPS had decided to cancel the proposed walkout on Monday after they were threatened with police arrest.
He said that the investigation comes after the MAEPS director lodged a report over the media’s unauthorised presence during the strike.
Asheeq called this an act of intimidation against those who had voiced out their concerns and he strongly condemns it.
He added that the Ministry of Health should not have allowed the investigations to be carried on.
Walau apa pun, nak ambil keterangan awal pagi macam ni selama 4 jam di waktu mereka bertugas menyelamatkan negara adalah satu intimidasi yang tidak boleh dikompromi.

IT IS COMPLETELY UNCALLED FOR!
“Taking statements at wee hours when the doctors are on duty is completely unacceptable. They are already overworked and exhausted, and you can still allow this?” he said.
Meanwhile, it was reported that Lembah Pantai member of Parliament (MP), Fahmi Fadzil had raised this matter during the Parliament hearing and seek clarification over the issue.
He requested Dewan Rakyat Speaker to let Adham Baba answer on the action taken by the police.
Lembah Pantai – PH (@fahmi_fadzil) minta penjelasan sama ada kenyataan Menteri Kesihatan semalam mengenai tiada tindakan ke atas #HartalDoktorKontrak mengelirukan Dewan atau tidak.
