Recently, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Muar, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman found himself in trouble after he was being charged with criminal breach of trust involving RM1 million belonging to Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia in 2018.
However, Syed Saddiq has denied the charges and pleaded not guilty.
He was then released on a RM330,000 bail by the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court on Wednesday (22 July), where he requested donation from Malaysians to help fund his bail.
Nonetheless, Syed Saddiq had on yesterday (23 July) took to his Twitter to announce that the donation he received was more than double the bail amount set, amounting to RM715,573.77.
Feeling grateful to Malaysians, Syed Saddiq in this tweet wrote “I owe my life to Malaysia.”
“Within 24 hours, 9,836 individuals have donated. Thank you. I am forever indebted.”
“I will never stop until we succeed to build a Malaysia for all Malaysians.”
Following the tweet, Syed Saddiq also share a story of how an elderly man wanted to help by donating RM100 at his office.
“Yesterday afternoon a uncle came by to the office. I thought he wanted to ask for assistance, instead all he wanted to do was donate RM100 to me.”
“I felt like crying. In moments like this, I am reminded why I joined politics. It was never about the position or money, but to build a Malaysia that is developed and dignified.”
“The more they push me, the more I will fight.”
“No threats. No intimidation. No offers will weaken my resolve to put Malaysia first.”
“I am here because of the people. My rise and fall will be in the hands of the people.”
Nonetheless, let’s hope that Syed Saddiq will be able to prove his innocence before the courts and clear all the charges against him.
