The price of various grades of chicken eggs is expected to increase by more than three percent by Aidiladha on July 20.
Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Datuk Rosol Wahid said, his party received a report on the increase in the price of raw materials, starting yesterday.
According to him, the initial investigation found that the price increase was unavoidable as many poultry farms were closed due to the Movement Control Order (PKP) which caused supply to decrease while demand for the material increased.
The increase in price for chicken eggs is due to many chicken farms are not currently operating.
The Deputy Director (prevention) of the Enforcement Division of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, Aris Mamat mentioned that his party understood the situation that traders had to bear, but stern action would be taken if the price increase was unreasonable.
In the meantime, he said, the supply of necessities by Aidiladha was sufficient except for subsidized wheat flour.
