Malaysia had once again break its own records for the number of daily cases with 9,180 new infections as of 9 July.
This is the second time the number of cases hit above the 9,000 mark and the previous record was 9,020 cases on 29 May.
According to the Ministry of Health (KKM), Selangor remained at 1st place with 4,400 cases, while Kuala Lumpur retains its 2nd spot with 1,271 cases. This was followed by Negeri Sembilan with 899 cases.
Meanwhile, in another Tweet, Health Director General, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that the infectivity rate has increased with an r-naught value of 1.09 as of 8 July.
In addition, Malaysia recorded 135 deaths, which is the highest number of daily deaths since the pandemic started in Malaysia. As of yesterday (8 July), it was reported that over 950 Covid-19 patients are currently in the ICU while close to 450 of them needed breathing assistance.
