The Prime Minister Office (PMO) of Malaysia had on this morning in a statement said that our Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has been admitted to a hospital due to diarrhea.
The statement continue saying that Muhyiddin started having the condition yesterday (29 June) night and was subsequently hospitalised the next day for treatment and monitoring.
Upon receiving this information, Malaysians were not sure whether should this be incident be of such importance that the PMO is required to issue a formal statement regarding this incident.
Nevertheless, Malaysians took it to their social media to make fun of the whole situation. This includes our political cartoonist, Fahmi Reza, where he drew the statement from PMO again with simple strokes, but sending a powerful message across.
Netizens then created the #PMCirit and #KerajaanCirit hashtag and they soon become trending on Twitter. Meanwhile, the news of our PM’s condition had made it to the international headlines, where prominent portals such as the U.S.News and The Times of India had covered news of Muhyiddin’s admission to the hospital.
On the other hand, netizens were confused whether they should be proud or embarrassed given that such news can make it to the international headlines. Netizens even questioned the PMO for the need to disclose such information to the public.
