The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) had recently announce that ‘durian feast party’ are not allowed given that it is a kind of social gathering and it is not permissible under the current SOP.

Yet, the Batu Pahat Member of Parliament (MP), Datuk Mohd. Rashid Hasnon, who was also the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, along with several other individuals were caught in a video for attending a durian party.

According to Utusan, the Batu Pahat District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Ismail Dollah said that they will be conducting an investigation against the Batu Pahat MP after the video circulating on social media showcased the elected representative gathering in what looks like a small durian party.

“A police report has been lodged and an investigation paper has been opened to look into the incident. The investigation is being conducted under Regulation 18 (1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Regulations 2021,” he said.

Ismail added that they will be calling up the MPs, including those were were involved in to incident to come forward to assist in the investigation.

“The police urge the public not to make any speculations that could interfere with the investigation,” he said.

In the video, we can clearly see that Datuk Mohd. Rashid and several other individuals enjoying themselves in the orchard, while the tables were full of durians.

On the other hand, the rest of the Malaysian citizens who were banned from all social activities following the implementation of the full lockdown, were angered after they see this.

Datuk Mohd. Rashid had since then denied the allegations and said that the video that went circulated on social media is believed to have been recorded last year, before the MCO implemented.
