A 37 year-old man in Taman Nusa Bestari, Johor was being slashed by his 23 year-old housemate for talking too loudly over the phone.
According to The Star, Iskandar Puteri district police chief, ACP Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said that they receive a report of the fight between the 2 men at about 1.15 p.m. on Sunday (27 June) and they immediately rushed to the location.
When they arrive at the scene, they found the man covered in blood.
The initial investigation found that the victim was slashed by his roommate and he sustained 3 slashes to his head.
The incident occurred after the victim refused to lower his voice while on the phone despite warnings from his housemate. The victim had responded with abusive words which then led to the incident.
Dzulkhairi explained to FMT, “When the victim went out of his room, the upset suspect approached the victim and pulled out a machete from his pants before striking the victim three times in the head.”
The victim was later sent to Sultanah Aminah Hospital in Johor Bahru to receive medical treatment.
Nonetheless, the police officers managed to track down the suspect with the help from the public and arrested him.
“Investigations revealed that the suspect was a factory worker and had no criminal record. Urine tests conducted were negative for drugs,” Dzulkhairi said.
On the other hand, the investigation found that the victim had 15 prior criminal offences, all involving drugs.
The police officers confiscated a 37cm long machete that was being used by the suspect too. He added that the case will be investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.
