Minister says no “Third Gender” in Malaysia

NewsMinister says no "Third Gender" in Malaysia

The Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri had once again stress that the nation does not agree with the efforts to allow the “third gender” to be acknowledged in the legislation.

Zulkifli stated this in a Virtual Conference with members of the Third Gender Implications Research Committee organized by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) yesterday.

He took his stance to his Facebook page to reject the foreign policy of the United States (US) to promote lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) human rights around the world.

According to him, Malaysia will also not budge from the stance of not recognizing the LGBT community as emphasized earlier.

“My principle, arguments need to be answered with arguments. Therefore, a complete argument (regarding the third gender) must be submitted, “he said.

Nonetheless, according to his previous statements, he said that the practice of LGBT cannot be tolerated because it is clearly against the teachings of Islam as well as human nature.

At the same time, he said that this issue should be handled wisely through education so that it can be corrected.
