PDRM investigates the M’sian Man in Johor Bharu who was Kidnapped and Released after an Hour

A man in his 20s was kidnapped by a group of 5 right in front of a shop in Mount Austin Park in Johor Bahru on last Wednesday (9 June) at about 6 p.m.

The Johor Bahru Selatan District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd. Padzli Mohd. Zain had in a statement said that the victim was released at about an hour later on the roadside in the Mount Austin area.

The CCTV footage from the shop owner shows that the victim and waiting outside the shop with a woman when 3 men approached him and forcefully took him away with a Proton Persona with a false number plate.

Meanwhile, Mohd Padzli said the motive for the kidnapping is unclear, however, based on the current investigation, the incident is believed to not involve “Ah Long” activities.

He added that the PDRM had found that a woman was involved in the incident and the PDRM had arrested the women to help in the investigations. However, they did not mention that if this is the same woman from the scene.

Mohd Padzil added that the PDRM is still tracking down the other suspects who are involved.

He also mentioned that the investigation will be conducted under Section 363 of the Penal Code and if found guilty, the accused can be imprisoned for up to seven years or fined.
