Recently, 31 workers of Oil and Gas companies (O&G) and poultry factories from the Kampung Acheh Industrial Area were fined for not updating their health status on the MySejahtera app daily while entering their workplace. This incident had gone viral and caused the public panic while keep refreshing their status on a daily basis.
Responding to the matter, the National Security Council (MKN) has clarified that it is not mandatory to update the status in MySejahtera on a daily basis.
According to Harian Metro, Manjung District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Nor Omar Sappi said that the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) had issued compounds of RM2,000 each to the workers of the O&G company, whereas, compounds of RM1,500 each were issued to 2 poultry factory workers for not updating their health status on MySejahtera.
Nor Omar added that the operation was carried out with the assistance from Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs and the Manjung Municipal Council and it is aimed to ensure workers update their health status to ensure only healthy and symptom-free individuals entered into the premises.
Meanwhile, as reported by Sin Chew Daily, Director-General of the National Security Council (MKN), Datuk Mohd Rabin Basir clarified that not updating the health status on MySejahtera is not an offence to the SOP during the FMCO.
According to the statement from the Ministry of Health (KKM), only individuals with the following are required to update their health status,
- Individuals with symptoms
- Individuals with a history of travelling abroad
- Individuals who are close contact with Covid-19-positive cases
- Individuals who have engaged in crowded gatherings or clusters.
In addition, Mohd Rabin Basir said MKN had told the PDRM to cancel the fines issued to all 31 workers previously.
“It has been proposed that the Manjung police take appropriate action by asking the district health department to cancel the fines,” he said, further commenting that the case has been classified as No Further Action (NFA).
Meanwhile, if an employee was diagnosed with Covid-19, all employees are required to update their health status on the MySejahtera app on a daily basis.
