Two teenagers from Kuala Muda, Penang were playing at the beach near their home and they had brought home the objects that they dug up from the beach. The teenagers did not expect the object they dug up was a bomb, until show it to their parents.

According to Harian Metro, North Seberang Perai Regional Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Noorzainy Mohd Noor said that the teenagers dug up the ‘toy’ buried in the sands at around 1 p.m. on Thursday (3 May) in Taman Desa Kuala Muda, which they then show it to their family members.

“There were description of a bomb written on the object, a police report was later lodged for further investigation.” he said.

“The results of the investigation shows that the object was indeed a mortar bomb measuring 30 centimeters (cm) and weighing three kilograms (kg).” he added.

“The case was then referred to the Bomb Disposal Unit (UPB) of the Penang Contingent Headquarters (IPK),” he said in a statement to Harian Metro.

Fortunately, the mortar bomb does not consist explosives and it is suspected to be made for the purpose of education.

Noorzainy added that the bomb was kept with the UPB of IPK for further action.
