The Covid-19 vaccine works differently on different categories of people, such as for those who are pregnant and breastfeeding. Hence, it is essential to know whether the recipient had been pregnant or breastfeeding, to reduce the wastages of vaccine.
Previously, there was no option in MySejahtera for pregnant and breastfeeding women to update their status, and most were only advised to not take the Covid-19 vaccine at the vaccination centres, turning the booking into a waste.
Responding to this, the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) announced that the function to update the pregnant and breastfeeding status had now been incorporated into MySejahtera.
As shown in the guide from the Tweet, it is quite simple. All you have to do is get to your MySejahtera application and tap on “Covid-19 Vaccination”. The option to update the status will be right under the Assessment title, as such.

After clicking on the option, you are required to answer 2 questions and the system will be updated accordingly.

CITF added that it is important for pregnant and breastfeeding women to update their status so that they can be allocated a vaccination date which is suitable for them.
As a guidance for the public, CITF included an infographic on the different types of vaccines and their recommendation. As of now, only Pfizer is recommended for pregnant ladies who are 14-33 weeks along and those soon-to-be mothers are able to postpone their vaccination to a later date.

Meanwhile, AstraZeneca and Sinovac are not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women at this point of time. Further studies are required to confirm the effects of the vaccination on this category of people.
For the soon-to-be mothers, quickly update your status on MySejahtera and choose a vaccination date suitable for yourself!
