The Covid-19 situation in Malaysia is at an alarming stage and the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) is doing its best to get Malaysians vaccinated and curb the virus in the country.

In the latest announcement, National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme Coordinating Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin said that the Task Force will be opening 5 more mega vaccination centres (PPV) in Klang Valley, 3 in Selangor and another 2 in Kuala Lumpur.

In addition, he said that the PPVs in Selangor will be at The Mines Convention Centre, UITM Puncak Alam and Setia City Convention Centre. Whereas, the 2 in Kuala Lumpur would be at KLCC Convention Centre and outside the Bukit Jalil Stadium.

Khairy added that he will be going to Penang and Johor next week to discuss the opening of more mega PPVs in the said states to boost the Covid-19 vaccination capacity.

On the other hand, Khairy said that 2,500 private doctors have registered to be able to vaccinate the people and 1,800 of them have completed the training to do so.

Meanwhile, 500 general practitioners (GP) will be provide the vaccination starting 15 June and another 1,000 GP to be able to do so be end June. Together, Khairy said that GP and private hospitals will be administer 40,000 doses of vaccine per day.

Responding to the drive-thru vaccination, Khairy said the Task Force will be issuing the instructions and guidelines to authorities of all states on a later day. He said that several states had requested for permission to carry out the system, however, the Task Force will need to finalise the guidelines before issuing them.
