Following the announcement from the Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin that the Full Movement Control Order (MCO) will be implemented across Malaysia starting 1 June, Malaysians started flocking to shopping malls to gather supplies to brace the MCO ahead.

On the other hand, the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi urge Malaysians to stop panic buying as he reassures that food supplies nationwide are stable and will be adequate during the Full MCO.

In addition, he explained that the Ministry have no records that there were cases of insufficient basic supplies and they are confident that the situation will be similar this round.

“Consumers are urged not to panic buy or purchase excessively to prevent stock disruption at retail premises,” he said in a statement today.” he said to Bernama.

Nanta continue saying that the Ministry will continue to monitor the level of supplies in all states during the MCO too.

Responding to the enforcement of the SOPs, Nanta said that the Ministry had initiated operation dubbed Ops Had 2J to monitor the public’s shopping time limit had been postponed to a later date.

Meanwhile, all other SOP as announced for the MCO 3.0 will continue to be in place and should be adhered at all times.

He said that businesses should plan and organise their items in a way that will reduce crowding in their premise, as this effort can contribute towards curbing Covid-19 in Malaysia.
