Gardenia Bakeries (KL) Sdn Bhd (GBKL) has confirmed the price hike of 6 of their products starting 1 June.
The management of GBKL had issued a statement said that the 6 products involved are Gardenia Delicia Hazelnut Chocolate Spread 200g, Gardenia Delicia Hazelnut Chocolate Spread 375g, Gardenia Delicia Milky Chocolate Spread 200g, Gardenia Delicia Milky Chocolate Spread 375g, Gardenia Auntie Rosie – Original Homestyle Kaya 200g dan Gardenia Auntie Rosie – Natural Pandan Kaya 200g.
In the statement, GBKL explained that the price hike is mainly due to the increase in cost in terms of manufacturing and raw material costs, which they have no choice but to pass it on to the consumers.
“All this while GBKL has been absorbing the cost, and now we do not have any alternative but to review the prices of selected Gardenia products, that will take effect this June 1,” they said in the statement.
GBKL said that the cost of raw ingredients such as vegetable fat, milk and packaging had increased drastically over the past few years.
On the other hand, GBKL will now focus on optimising productivity and efficiency of their factories. GBKL stressed that price hike is their last resort after all avenues have been exhausted.
Meanwhile, GBKL said that prices of other products, such as all kinds of bread will remain the same and they urge the public to not panic.
