Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had just announced that the authorities will impose a tighter SOP after his meeting with the National Security Council (MKN).
In the statement, he said the infectious rate of Covid-19, the capacity of our healthcare facilities and further actions to curb Covid-19 were among the topics during the meeting with MKN.
In addition he said that despite having the implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO) 3.0, the daily cases are still on the rise. The situation is made worse especially with the appearance of newer, more aggressive strains. This means that it will take longer to flatten the infection curve.
After taking all of the factors into consideration, the Government has agreed to tighten the SOP implementation of the MCO 3.0. That will mean adding more restrictions on the economic and social sectors.
The session also involved the state governments and the Covid-19 situation in each state was assessed too. The Government will be adopting all useful opinions in battling the Covid-19 pandemic.
However, the details regarding these added restrictions will be announced by the Defence Minister, Ismail Sabri tomorrow (22 May).
