The daily new cases of Covid-19 in Malaysia had broke its record for the 2 consecutive days with 6,075 (19 May) and 6,806 (20 May) cases. As many are concerned, will the Malaysia Government implement a Full Movement Control Order (MCO) in the entire nation in order to curb the Covid-19 virus.

According to Berita Harian, the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law), Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said that the matter will be brought up to discussion in the meeting with the Covid-19 National Security Council (MKN) tomorrow.

Takiyuddin said that the meeting will be chaired by Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin at 3 p.m. and all the Menteri Besar and Chief Ministers will be attending. He added that the decision to implement a Full MCO would need the concurrence of MKN.

Takiyuddin added that the spread of Covid-19 virus is serious matter based on the statistics released yesterday, which the cumulative number of positive cases was close to half a million.

“The death toll is over 2,000 and we feel it is a matter of great concern despite strong cooperation from the Ministry of Health and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).”

“So far, we have implemented MCO, RMCO and EMCO either as a whole or targeted, depending on the situation to curb the spread of COVID-19,” he said.
