Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had on the National Youth Day speech said that the Government is committed to continue empowering youths for the development of highly innovative and sustainable human capital.
As such, a group of youths will be selected as part of an advisory group to voice out their opinions and views to help shape the government’s policies.
According to Malay Mail, Muhyiddin said that the list of candidates for the Anak Muda Advisory Group is being finalised and the candidates will be announced soon.
“This is a good initiative; the voices of youth at the grassroots level can be heard and further contribute to government policy planning,” he said in his National Youth Day 2021 speech.
He also said that more youth can be directly involved in formulating a comprehensive national development strategy through this platform. This gives youths an element of social responsibility too.
The Anak Muda Advisory Group was introduced by the Malaysian Youth Council and Muhyiddin said that this model will serve as a complement the existing Malaysian Youth Policy 2015-2035 to ensure it remains in line with the latest policies, such as the Shared Prosperity Vision 2030 and Sustainable Development Goals.
In addition to that, more focus will be given to tackle the challenges faced by youths, especially during this Covid-19 pandemic. Among the initiatives were to equip youths with the relevant knowledge and skills to deal with the changing digital landscape involving skilled work.
