The Defence Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob had in a press conference held yesterday (8 May) announced that all interstate and inter-district travel will be banned for 4 weeks starting next Monday (10 May).
As reported by Astro Awani, one may only interstate or inter-district travel if you have approval from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).
However, Ismail said that the only exception given for interstate and inter-district travel is for work purposes. For this, a PDRM approval is not required, but a confirmation letter from their respective employers will be sufficient.
Furthermore, Ismail stressed that several other activities will be prohibited within the same period (10 May until 6 June 2021) in an effort to curb the spread of Covid-19 in our country. He urged that public to avoid social, education and economic activities that involves mass crowds or gatherings.
At the same time, official, social and face-to-face activities should be avoided whether in the public or private sector.
Ismail said that this decision would be reevaluated after 2 weeks of enforcement and the Government may lift this ban based on the current circumstances.
