This is great news for students! Students can now focus more on learning!
Education Minister, Dr Radzi Jidin had in today’s press conference announced that the Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) will be abolished starting from this year onwards.
There will not be any other centralised examination to replace UPSR. However, students are required to undergo school-based evaluation, while those who wish to enter certain boarding schools, they’re also entitled to take a special evaluation exam.

Radzi said the decision to abolish the UPSR was made after various considerations which involve obtaining views and inputs of more than 1,700 participants, comprising teachers, parents and students as well as unions and associations nationwide.
In addition to that, the PT3 examination for year 2021 will be cancelled due to time constraints as the students do not have enough time to study for the examination. The decision was made after careful discussion with the Ministry of Education.
Radzi added that students do not have enough time for face-to-face learning. Students who wish to continue on to Form 4 in boarding schools will have to take a special evaluation exam.
