TV host-entrepreneur Neelofa along with her husband and family members have been fined for a total of RM60,000 for violating the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) during the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO).
According to NST, Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm, Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said Neelofa has been fined for RM20,000 for 2 different offences. The first offence is that she had failed to practice physical distancing at her wedding ceremony, while the second one is for violating the interstate travel ban by using a work permit to travel to Langkawi.
As for her husband, PU Riz, he was issued a RM10,000 compound for breaching interstate travel regulations.
Zainal added that no discounts will be offered to them as well.
In addition that, 20 family members of Neelofa and PU Riz were each being fined for RM1,500 for failing to practice social distancing of at least one metre during the wedding ceremony. The fine amounts to RM30,000.
Neelofa and PU Riz got married on 27 March at a lavish hotel and they were seen in Langkawi Island just a few days later, which they claimed was a business trip.
Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador said that for cases like this, their proper SOP is to open an investigation paper and the suspects will be called in for a statement.
