The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) had just announced that they will be conducting house visits on Hari Raya to inspect whether the SOPs had been complied, as they did last year.
Bukit Aman Department of Internal Security and Public Order (KDNKA) director, Datuk Seri Abd Rahim Jaafar said the patrol was carried out to ensure that no individual had travelled interstate without permission.
According to Astro Awani, the director added that the patrol was also to ensure Malaysians were complying with SOPs. This is to ensure there are no Covid-19 infection clusters due to “balik kampung” during the festival season.
Rumours are spreading that some Malaysians allegedly use the opportunity to travel across state borders during bad weather as they know those police officers would be taking shelter then. Nevertheless, PDRM should tighten their rules and road blocks so as to ensure these do not happen.
Speaking of house visits, a netizen pointed out that the PDRM officers should not only inspect the houses of regular Malaysians but those of the VIPs are important too. The Covid-19 virus do not differentiate the position of the individual when they spread.
The double standard when it comes to compliance of SOP can be seen in many cases and the citizens are slowly losing confidence in the Government. From previous cases, it is obvious that the authorities do take a longer time to convict VIPs when they have clearly violated SOPs.
If they’ve visited your house, how about offering them some cookies too?
