The incident happened in Penang Bridge yesterday (16 April), where a man dives off Penang bridge to save his wife who jumped off the bridge. It is believed that she suffered from depression for the past few years.
When the incident happened, their son had stopped the passing motorist to request for assistance.
A spokesperson from the Penang Fire and Rescue Department said that they received an emergency call at 4.40pm and quickly dispatched a team from the Perai Fire and Rescue Station.
“Upon arrival, we found that she had been rescued by her husband and taken to one of the bridge’s pillars,” the spokesperson was quoted as saying by Bernama.
Her husband later revealed that his wife suffered from depression for the past few years and this may be an attempt to commit suicide.
According to the authorities, the case is still under investigation. However, they’ve shared that the woman arrives on the bridge in a Proton Saga Aeroback and her husband and son soon arrive at the scene on the motorcycle.
It is believed the incident happened after a quarrel between the two couple.

Central Seberang Perai district police chief ACP, Shafee Abd Samad said that the case will be investigated under Section 309 of the Penal Code, whereby one found guilty for attempted suicide can be punished for one year of imprisonment or fine or both.
