The Malaysia Ministry of Human Resources (HR) has nodded on the proposal of granting employees leave to take the Covid-19 vaccine shot.
According to Bernama, its Minister, Datuk Seri M. Saravanan said that this will give employees confidence to be vaccinated as some are worried that the jab would affect their work.
Saravanan said that the Ministry is unable to declare it as a special holiday as the vaccination shot for everyone is scheduled on a different date. Hence, it is up to the employer to grant the employees leave.
Recently, Saravanan had met up with Coordinating Minister for the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme, Khairy Jamaluddin to discuss several suggestions from the Covid-19 Vaccine Supply Access Guarantee Special Committee (JKJAV). Among them were suggestion to grant leave to employees who are taking their vaccine shots.
However, this approval does not meant that it is compulsory for employers to grant the leave, but rather just a nod that employers who wanted to do so can continue with it.
