Zoo Negara will introduce a wedding ceremony package at the premises as an alternative product in generating income after Aidilfitri.

Deputy President of Zoo Negara, Rosly @ Rahmat Ahmat Lana said, the package is planned to be offered at a reasonable price which will be the latest attraction in the future.

“Indeed, we have a plan to make this idea (wedding package) a success after Aidilfitri to cover expenses and generate existing income.

“If we can hold a wedding ceremony at Dewan Kancil, Zoo Negara, maybe we will study the standard operating procedures (SOP) as well as how to enter guests without going through the existing doors.

“At the same time, all guests present will also be given a 50 per cent discount on admission tickets to Zoo Negara on the day,” he said in a press conference after the Walimatul Urus-Raikan Cinta Program celebrated two brides at Zoo Negara, today.

The bride and groom who are also Zoo Negara staff, from left, Mohd Hafizi Azahari and his partner, Mustaza Syirin Mustafa with Mohamad Rafiq Syafiq Mohamad Salehudin and his partner, Nursyahidah Ismail, visit the animal showroom during the wedding celebration at Zoo Negara, Kuala Lumpur.

On the latest financial status of Zoo Negara, Rosly said, they are able to earn up to RM11 million this year through various initiatives including fund contributions, adoption, the Jom Memancing @ Zoo Negara program and visitor entry.

“When Zoo Negara opened more than a month ago, we received encouraging response, even better than before the implementation of the Movement Control Order (PKP) last year.

“I also thank all parties for supporting us to be able to reach RM11 million this year compared to only RM10 million last year.

“All I can say is that our finances are now sufficient to cover costs such as workers’ salaries, medicine and pet food, but if the PKP is extended further in five to six months, we may have to appeal for more assistance for survival,” he said.

In the meantime, looking at the encouraging response in the Jom Memancing @ Zoo Negara program, it will add five more tons of fish of various species in the near future.

“Until now, we have placed one and a half tonnes of fish in Tasik Tunku Abdul Rahman and will add another five tonnes of fish in the near future to attract anglers,” he said.
