Malaysia could be Apple’s third stop in Southeast Asia , after having open 5 retail stores in Singapore and Thailand. According to The Edge, Malaysia’s first Apple Store when it opens next year, is said to be located at The Exchange TRX, the upcoming financial district on Jalan Barat in Pudu, Kuala Lumpur.
Associate Editor of The Edge, Vasantha Ganesan said that Lendlease, the co-developer of The Exchange TRX is currently in the advanced stage of negotiations with Apple. They have been convincing Apple to set up its first-ever Malaysian retail store at the upcoming retail and lifestyle area for over two years now.
Vasantha Ganesan added that representatives from Apple may have been in Kuala Lumpur last month to discuss the matter. The report was published in the print and the digital edition of The Edge Malaysia for the week of 12 to 18 April 2021.
While the Exchange TRX is planned to be open in phases until 2025, it is said that the Exchange TRX offers up to 1.3 million square feet of lettable area and features more than 500 retailers covering lifestyle, entertainment, and dining.
Furthermore, it is supported by excellent infrastructure and connectivity, including KL’s largest MRT station, access to the MEX Highway, SMART Tunnel and other primary arteries of KL such as Jalan Tun Razak.
