Facebook Malaysia has just announced that Reels and Music will be now available for Instagram users in Malaysia. The feature was first introduce in Brazil for trail runs and subsequently in the United States, United Kingdom, Japan and Australia.
While Reels and Music is a new thing in Malaysia, I’m sure you wanted to know more about it.
Instagram Reels is pretty much the Instagram version of TikTok and it lets you make effects-laden 15-second videos. There are a variety of functions that you can work with and you can either record a new 15-second clip or upload a pre-recorded one and add effects from there. Completed Reels can be found in a special tab in your profile.
On the other hand, Instagram Music allows you to add a soundtrack to your story that fits any moment and helps you express how you’re feeling. Though for some reason you add them via the Music sticker.
Tap on the Music sticker to open a library of thousands of songs. You can search for a specific song, browse by mood, genre or what’s popular and tap the play button to hear a preview.
When you’ve selected your song, you can fast-forward and rewind through the track to choose the exact part that fits your story. You can even add lyrics to them when you use it as part of your Instagram Stories. Of course, you can choose the way the Music appear on your Stories.
Both Reels and Music should be already available on the Instagram app for Malaysian users. If you don’t see it, either the app needs an update or it’s still in the process of being rolled out in the background.
