This marks the second case of eggs being recalled due to Salmonella Enteritidis (SE) contamination since a few weeks ago, where eggs from Lay Hong Bhd Layer Farm were being instructed to be recalled by it’s importers from Singapore.
Aeon Retail Malaysia had on yesterday (20 March) recalled the batch of eggs with the stamp “CEM014” due to possible SE contamination. Aeon had urged the customers who had purchased these eggs to return them to the place of purchase at the Customer Service Counter for a full refund as per the receipt.
Replying a comment from a netizen, Aeon stated that there is no specific brand or size of eggs being recalled and they’ve shared the information for consumer alert. The affected eggs are HLRB batch CEM014.
If you have yet to hear about Salmonella Enteritidis, it is a kind of bacteria that causes fever, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea if consumed. However, the bacteria can be killed if the food is cooked thoroughly.
If you’ve consumed any of the eggs and started feeling ill, please seek medical assistant immediately.
