Najib fined for violating SOPs in a chicken rice shop

While many were frustrated that politicians or VIPs were not fined for violating the SOPs imposed since the Movement Control Order (MCO), former Prime Minister of Malaysia, Najib Razak had took it to Facebook admitting his mistake for violating the SOPs while eating out in a famous chicken rice shop in Kuala Lumpur.

In his post, he said, “If I’ve done it, I’ll admit it. I acknowledge the criticisms I have received for my actions.”

He added that arrangements have been made so as to ensure that he entered the shop and sat straightaway. However due to the arrangements made, he did not perform the proper SOP when visiting the shop.

He said that he usually comply with the SOPs and it was his own mistake for not following them this time. He then urge the authorities to take action against the mistake he did as he does not want to create an impression that the legal system in Malaysia has a double standard that works differently with politicians and VIPs.

Najib stated that he noted that according to the latest announcement, the fine imposed will be RM1,500 for not checking in with MySejahtera app and if he settles the bill within 7 days, he’ll receive a 50% discount.

Najib added that he will be paying the fine voluntarily so as to set a good example for the public.
