Kepong Member of Parliament, Lim Lip Eng had offered his assistance to those who were fined RM10,000 for violating SOPs with an illogical reason under the Emergency (Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases) (Amendment) Ordinance 2021.
Lim said that he understands that the RM10,000 fine can sometimes be made based on unreasonable excuses and often those become the victim are those who cannot afford to pay.
Their office will be appealing for the said fines to be reduced to a reasonable amount and they will be prioritising the population from the B40 as they are the most vulnerable ones.
According to Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador, the Rm10,000 fine can be reduced to RM50, however, it is at the discretion of District Health Officer.
Lim advice the netizens to not succumb to the pressure and offer bribes to officers who are issuing the fine. You should accept the fine and seek help from Kepong Parliamentary office.
Lim wishes to remind the public to always adhere to the SOPs and stay safe. We won’t know what will happen in any circumstances.
