The long waited Covid-19 vaccine had finally arrived in Malaysia today on 21 February 2021. The Covid-19 vaccine is from Pfizer-BioNTech and it was being delivered with Malaysia Airlines Flight MH604, operated by MAB Kargo Sdn Bhd (MASkargo), at the KL International Airport (KLIA) in Sepang.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong and Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah had arrived at the scene to welcome the arrival of these vaccines.

According to The Star, the flight carries 312,390 doses of vaccine and it is only a part of the agreement to purchase 12,799,800 doses of vaccine from Pfizer (Malaysia). It is expected that this will cover around 20% of the population, with two doses per person.

The Ministry of Health Malaysia had prepared about 600 vaccination stations across the nation and they will be catering for the frontliners first. They will be targeting to vaccinate the senior citizens and the vulnerable group starting from April to August. Finally, for those who are above 18 from May to February 2022.
