The Customs Department has seized 16 tones of Captagon pills containing amphetamine and it is estimated to worth about RM5.2 billion a few days ago (15 March). The haul was so massive that it is labelled as the biggest drug bust in Malaysian history.
The seizure was made from containers at Port Klang and the Captagon pills that were hidden in a shipment of trolley wheels. The drug shipment arrived in Port Klang from a country in the Middle East and it was meant to be shipped to an East Asian country.
The haul was a success due to the collaboration and intel-sharing between Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Home Affairs and the Royal Malaysia Police. This is considered to be the biggest success in fighting international drug cartels too.
The case is will be investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act, which carries the mandatory death penalty, upon conviction.
Drugs had destroyed the lives of many throughout the course of history and we have been fighting against drug abuse and illicit trafficking ever since the establishment of the country.
This is truly a great step towards battling drugs!
