13 Cops, 2 Firemen & An Army Commando nabbed at a Drug Party in Puchong

Yesterday (4 September), a total of 18 civil servants, including 13 police personnel, 2 firemen and an army commando were arrested following a raid conducted at an entertainment outlet in Puchong, Selangor.

The 18 civil servants were among the 62 people in total who were nabbed by the police in the raid.

According to Harian Metro, Serdang district police chief ACP A A Anbalagan said the police had conducted the raid at 1.40 a.m. on Saturday night at an entertainment outlet, which was found to be dark with loud music playing.

“At the time, the customers were drinking alcohol.” he said.

In addition, the raid was assisted by officers from Selangor police’s integrity and standards compliance department (JIPS), in addition to the Selangor Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

Anabalanga said that the investigation had found that at least one of the men arrested was tested positive for meth.

“62 compounds were issued and investigations were conducted in accordance with Section 269 of the Penal Code, Section 6 of the Entertainment and Entertainment Venues Enactment 1955, Entertainment and Entertainment Venues (Selangor) Regulations 1966, Section 76 of the Excise Act 1976.” he said.

He added that among those detained, the youngest person of them were 17 year-old.

Nonetheless, the police had issued compound notices of RM5,000 each for violating the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs), which the total fine came up to RM310,000.

The items that were seized in the raid were liquor bottles, beer cartons, a deejay deck, speakers, and audio equipment.

Anabalanga also revealed that of the 18 civil servants, there was one corporal, six lance corporal, and six constables including a woman traffic constable.

However, the officers were in various units in different stations, according to FMT.

FMT also cited that according to their sources, there were an army commando with the rank of sergeant being arrested in the raid too. The individual was reported to be an escort for a top army officer at the defence ministry.

Meanwhile, all of them are expected to be suspended pending an investigation by their respective departments.
